Dora Paul Whitworth returned to her Heavenly Father at age 85, January 7, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born in Midnight, Mississippi, June 1, 1925, to Albert and Mary Ella Paul. She married Roger Whitworth in March 1942. They had five children.
From her youth, Dora was an adventurous person with many interest. She was captain of the girl’s basketball team as well as homecoming queen. During the Second World War, while her husband was at war, she took flying lessons and flew a Piper Cub. She opened the Happy Day Nursery in her home in Smyrna, Ga. She attended college while raising her children and working as an aide in the schools. She graduated Cum Lade from the University of Utah and returned to Georgia to teach third grade at Eastside Elementary in Dalton. Dora loved teaching and working with children. While teaching she completed her Sixth Year Degree at West Georgia College in Carrollton, Ga.
Dora joined the LDS Church in 1952 and was instrumental in the growth of the Church in the Atlanta and Dalton areas. Her devotion to her faith never wavered. She had many callings in the Church and was happiest when she was in the service of others. She served an LDS mission and spent many hours working on her genealogy.
Dora is survived by her sons, Bill (Alison) Whitworth; Keith (Lynn) Whitworth; daughters, Shirley Whitworth; Jeanne (Tony) Ingle; Bonnie Boling; grandsons Chip (Micheala) Whitworth; Elliot Ingle; Golden (Kristi) Ingle; Tony, Jr. Ingle; Israel Ingle; Harrison Boling; granddaughters Tonya (Wade) Aldredge; Tracee (Joel) Reynolds; Sunshine (Kyle) Tuckett; sister, Sue (Lee) Bennett, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Grandview Ward, 2930 South 2000 East, Salt Lake City, Utah at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011. Interment was in the Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in her memory may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, C/O 1141 County Line Road, Resaca, GA 30735.
