Mrs. Amelia Grashoff Thacker Smith, 90, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2011.
She was the daughter of the late, William and Emily Thacker and was preceded in death by her husband, Worth Smith; daughter, Linda Seay; son, Larry Smith; and grandson, Christopher Smith.
Amelia was born and raised in the Carbondale Community and graduated from Valley Point High School. Amelia, who worked with her hands all her life, was a talented seamstress and worked in the spread houses of Dalton when she was young.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jack Burdette of Dunwoody, Ga.; grandchildren; Ashlie (Paul) Johnston of Buford, Ga., Ronny (Sonia) Seay of Auburn, AL., Donny (Mandy) Seay of Douglasville, Ga. and Michael Smith of Colorado Springs, Co.; and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 A.M. at Swamp Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Donny Caylor officiating.
Burial will follow in Swamp Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Swamp Creek Baptist Church, 240 Carbondale Rd., Dalton, Ga. 30721.
