Mrs. Harriett Gunn DiGioia, 78, of Monroe, Ga. and formerly of Dalton, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Walton Regional Medical Center in Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. DiGioia.
Harriett was worked for the United States Forrest Service and wrote a Nature Column for the Daily Citizen News.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Rachel and Dr. James Williamson of Griffin, Ga., Harriett and Verner Guthrie of Lorton, VA. Sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Ava DiGioia of Norcross, GA., Frank and Pam DiGioia of Lilburn, Ga. Brothers, Edward M. Gunn of California and Charles R. Gunn of North Carolina. 14 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild. Nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Harris officiating.
Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Friday from 6 to 8 P.M. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to one of these projects that were close to Harriett’s heart: The Organic Gardening Project, Sturge Town, St. Ann Parrish, Jamaica, or The Church Construction Project, Anderson Town, Clarendon Parrish, Jamaica. Checks for either of these projects may be made out to Christ Community Church, 804 W. Walnut Ave, Dalton, Ga. 30720, and designated to the project you wish to support.
