Ann Lucy Wilford was born on February 10, 1934. She died February 10, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. and Mrs. Sewell Brince Wilford.
She is survived by twin brothers Ned Wilford of Dalton, Georgia and Dan Wilford of Sugar Land, Texas, two nephews, three nieces, eight great nephews and nieces.
The daughter of a Methodist minister, Ann graduated from Batesville, Arkansas High School. She graduated from Hendrix College and received a masters degree from Rollins College. Her career began as a Girl Scout Executive in Pensacola, Florida, followed by Directing a YWCA in Glendale, California and directing USO's in Wichita, Texas and Memphis, Tennessee. She taught school in Sikeston, Missouri, Mobile, Alabama, and Jacksonville, Florida prior to a 30 year teaching career at Lake Wales, Florida High School. For 20 years she taught English, Speech and Drama and served as the school counselor for 10 years. She retired in 1996.
Ann was very active in the Little Theater where she performed
and directed numerous plays. An avid reader she served as Chairman of the Public Library Board in Winter Haven, Florida and led a book club for years giving scores of book reviews. She was an active and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Winter Haven, Florida and served as Coordinator of the Stephen Ministry program.
Ann moved to Dalton in July, 2008 and resided at Regency Park Health Care Center.
At Ann’s request she was cremated. The family will receive friends on Thursday February 17, 2011 at Love Funeral Home from 10 to 11 A. M. with a memorial service to follow at 11 A. M. with the Rev. Jim Suddath officiating.
