Mr. William Earl Davis, 85, of Dalton, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing, where he was receiving rehabilitation, from an automobile accident in November of 2010. He was the son of the late, William Bill and Margaret Azzie Davis and was a member of the Good Samaritan
Baptist Church; was a veteran of the U.S. Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Smith and Green Construction and then became self employed. He also worked for the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society and Prater’s Mill and was an avid outdoorsman.
Earl was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jimmy Hooker; brother, J. B. Davis; brother-in-law, Milburn Brown and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Brown Davis.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, William Larry and Mary Ann Davis of Memphis, TN., Bradley A. and Deborah Davis of Chattanooga, TN.; daughter, Earlene Hooker of Dalton; grandchildren, Jeff and Gena Davis, Tela and Pat Sain, Ange Davis and Shannon Hooker; great-grandchildren, Jessica Sain, Nick Sain, Julie Sain, Nash Hooker, Miles Hooker, Courtney Shell and Whitney Davis; special friends, Jon and Jean Usher.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2 P.M. at West Hill Cemetery with the Rev.
Tommy Brown and the Rev. Tim Brown officiating. American Legion Post # 112 in charge of Military Rites.
The family will receive friends Friday at the Love Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to
1:30 p.m.
