Mrs. Idawee Springer Bowen, 96, of Dalton, died peacefully, March 4, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 31, 1914 in Whitfield County, the youngest of three daughters, born to the late Ida Hightower and Charles Franklin Springer.
Idawee was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, William Carey Bowen, Jr.; her sisters, Ione Springer Trammell, Mary Helen Springer Berry and her son-in-law, Tom Craig.
She is survived by her children, Carey Bowen Craig, Betty Bowen Sponcler and Maurice, William “Bill” Carey Bowen, III and Ann all of Dalton; grandchildren, Lisa Sponcler Norman and Keith, Bowen Butler Craig, Dori Sponcler Jones and Rand, Hamilton McKinley Craig and Branden, Macie Bowen Hackney and Wes,
William Carey Bowen, IV and Kathleen; great-grandchildren, Virginia Ann Hackney, Mary Elizabeth Hackney, William Carey Bowen, V, Lucy Bowen Jones,
Randolph Bluette Jones, IV, Ellie Hamilton Norman, Jonathan Keith Norman, William Hamilton Norman and McKinley James Craig; nephew, Franklin Trammell; niece, Suzanne Hull.
Services will be Monday at 4 p.m. at St Mark’s Episcopal Church with the Dr. Reed Freeman and the Rev. Tyler Downing officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the parrish hall at the church on Monday from 3 to 4 p.m. and immediately following the service.
