Mr. Jack Kenimer Tarpley, 80, of Dalton died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at his residence, after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Evie Brooks Tarpley and Emmit Marshall Tarpley of High Shoals and was preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis Tarpley, Lamar Tarpley and Terrell Tarpley; sisters, Ann Landers and Juanita Kiser.


Jack was a graduate of the University of Georgia where he received his B. S. Degree in Business Administration, and played both varsity baseball and basketball. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict during which time he served in the Honor Guard.
He was employed by The Bibb Company, located in Macon, GA, for approximately 27 years and later became a partner of Bibb Yarns, Inc. More recently he and his wife were owners of Dalton Paint & Interiors.


Jack was an active member of the Dalton First United Methodist Church for over 50 years and had served as Chairman of the Administrative Board, on the Board of Trustees, and as president of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a charter member of the original Noon Day Lion’s Club and was also a former member of the Dalton Rotary Club, as well as the Royal Oaks Board of Trustees.

Jack is survived by his wife Beverly Branch Tarpley of Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Perry Kisor of Dalton, Alison and Greg Burnette of Gainesville, GA; son Ken Tarpley of Dalton; grandchildren, Emily Kisor of Atlanta, Ali Burnette and Brooks Burnette of Gainesville; brothers and sister-in-law, Harry Tarpley of Hendersonville, TN, Bob and Lou Tarpley of N. Charleston, SC; sister, Rebecca Deaton of Stone Mountain. Nieces and nephews also survive.


Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m., at the Dalton First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating.


Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the Atrium until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 627, Dalton, GA 30722, or to Hamilton Hospice, P. O. Box 1168, Dalton, GA 30722.
