Mrs. Lovella “Lo” Payne Veasey, 80, of Dalton, GA., died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Florida Hospital in Orman Beach, FL.
She was the daughter of the late, Milton Allison Payne and Lillie Mae “Polly” Payne and was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Veasey in 2001; sisters, Mary Mitchell, Rena Hincy, Pearl Bennett and Juanita Christopher; brothers, Jack Payne, John Payne and Pete Payne.
She began her career as a telephone operator with Southern Bell in Anniston, AL. and after moving to Dalton, she worked as a receptionist/ pbx operator for Shaw Industries. She was a member of the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and was a volunteer on the Alter Guild and was also a volunteer at Hamilton Medical Center.
Lo is survived by her loving family; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Stacy Veasey of Spicewood, TX.; daughters and son-in-law, Susan and Bob Wright of Gainesville, GA. and Mary Veasey Houston of Dalton; grandchildren, Allyson and Glenn Yeomans, Steven Wright, Niki Veasey, Beth Houston and Kate Houston;
great-granddaughter, Katie Beth Yeomans; sisters, Cathleen Amerson of Jacksonville, AL. and Eva Winfrey of Oxford, AL.; special friend, Winston Dobson of St. Catharines, Ontario Canada; nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. Reed Freeman officiating.
The family will receive friends in the Parrish Hall of the church Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. and immediately following the service in the Parrish Hall.
