Marian Lankford

Marian Duncan Lankford, 85, passed away Friday April 8, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was the daughter of the late Walter and Thelma Duncan of Olive Hill, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by Robert P. Lankford, her loving husband of 45 years; son-in-law James W. Thomason, Jr.; and brothers Ralph and Daniel Duncan.
Marian is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Malinda L. and Joseph Temple and Rebecca L. Thomason; grandchildren Lora Lee Turner, Robert William and Angel Thomason, Marian Elizabeth Thomason and fiancé Michael Wells and Malinda Ree Temple; great grandchildren Joseph Turner, Jamie LeeAnn Thomason, Tyler Cross, Matthew Thomason, Caedman Deal and Caitlyn Thomason. She is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Bessie Domske, Alberta and Ray McCoy, and Loretta and Theodore Evans all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; brother and sisters-in-law James and Diane Duncan of Winchester, Kentucky and Virginia Duncan of Bradenton, Florida. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Marian came to Dalton from her home in Kentucky after meeting the love of her life, Robert, at Sue Bennett College in London, Kentucky. She enjoyed a career in education at schools in Dalton City and Whitfield County Schools Systems as well as several years at Dalton Public Library. Marian retired from Dalton City Schools in 1982.
The family wishes to thank granddaughter Beth Thomason, Freida Evans and Hamilton Hospice for their care and comfort.
Services are Monday at 12 noon in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Reilly officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 11 A.M. until 12 noon at Love Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
