Rev. Douglas “Doug” Lamar Hasty, 64, of Tunnel Hill, passed away Monday April 11, 2011 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.
He was the son of the late, Ruben J. and Velma E. Wimpy Hasty and was preceded in death by his son Wayne Allan King and a sister, Betty Carter.
Doug was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was the current pastor and a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church.
He loved his church family and they all loved him. He was a loving husband, father and the best papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doug is survived by his wife of 30 years Charlene Johnson Hasty of Tunnel Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Travis Miller of Dalton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sybil Graham of Rossville, Willie and Jeff Hambright of Tunnel Hill, Agnes Harris of Dalton and Freda and Charles Scott of Chatsworth; brothers and sister-in-law, Gene Hasty of Tunnel Hill and Shelby and Glenda Hasty of Rocky Face; granddaughters, Melissa and Josh Whorton, Natlie King and Nichole King;
great-granddaughter, Baylee Whorton; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Thursday at Freedom Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Headrick officiating.
Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Men of the church will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Freedom Baptist Church, 1007 Civic Dr. Dalton, GA. 30721
