Geneva Stone Ward, 85, of the Carbondale community in Dalton, died in her home on Thursday, April 21, 2011, leaving her physical body behind and joining Jesus and other members of her family in heaven. Those who preceded her are her husband - Thomas A. Ward Sr., her eldest son - Thomas A. Ward Jr., her parents - G. C. and Jennie Nations Stone, brothers -Lloyd Stone, Berlin Stone, Frank Stone, Marshall Stone, Parson Stone, and sister - Ruth Stone Johnson.
Those she left behind to carry on her legacy are Buddy and Virginia Ward Griffin Edmonds, Sam F. Griffin Jr. and Hunter, Adam W. and Joanna Griffin and Sam and Breck; Sandy Ward, Thomas A. Ward III, Jay and Kara Lou Ward Layman and Landon, Will Stone Ward; Richard Ward, Shawn and Candace Ward Cole; Harry Ward, Jacob Ward, Isaac and Heather Ward and Taylor and Mason, Franky Joe Ward; Keith and Nancy Ward Colvin, Jonathan and Jessica; Paul and Anna Ward Joseph, Sarah Joseph and Ridge, and Ben and Hannah Joseph Oliver; George and Sharon Johnson Parkman, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Her oldest sister - Farris Stone Watson is still living.
Geneva lived her life dedicated to the service of her Lord Jesus and her family. She also considered her work a ministry of service to the community because she loved people. She sold Stanley Home Products and worked in Dalton and in Ringgold serving the public at retail pharmacies.
Funeral services will be at 1 P.M. Monday from Swamp Creek Baprist Church with Dr. Dan Whitaker, the Rev. Donnie Caylor, the Rev Jim Suddath and the Rev. Mark Seay officiating.
Burial will be in Swamp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Saturday from 6 to 8 P.M. she will lie-in-state and the family will receive friends on Sunday at Geneva’s home at 700 West Nance Springs Rd., Dalton, GA. 30721 from 4 to 8 P.M.
Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made on behalf of Geneva Ward to the Georgia Baptist Cooperative Program in care of Swamp Creek Baptist Church 240 Carbondale Road, Dalton, Ga.
