Gerald Harwood

Mr. Gerald Neal Harwood, age 73 of Monroe, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in the Monroe Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Harwood was a US Navy Veteran. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 34 years of service, 20 of which he was Postmaster at the Dacula post office. He was also a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Dalton High School class of 1955 . Mr. Harwood was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Scruggs of Dalton, GA.. He is survived by his wife: Vickie Ann Harwood, Monroe; children: Shana Leigh Harwood, Decatur; Ryan Neal Harwood, Roswell; Julie Harwood Cromer, Loganville; Shannon Wayne Sturgill, Loganville, Christi Shirley Davis (Dan), Montgomery, AL; Matthew Thomas Shirley, Loganville; brothers: R.S.(Tony) Harwood, Blairsville; Mike Harwood, Douglasville; brother-in-law, Bobby Scruggs of Dalton 9 Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 915 Church Way, Loganville, GA 30052.
