Mr. Monroe “Roe” Clifford Pitts, 91, of Dalton and formerly of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011.
He was born June 19, 1920 in Murray County to the late Clifford L. and Victoria Pitts and was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Julia Naomi Roberts Pitts; brothers, John Pitts, George Pitts and L.C. Pitts; and son-in-law, Clifton Walraven.
He worked in the Pulpwood Industry, was a farmer and worked for Georgia Textile for 30 years. He was also one of the oldest members of Corinth Baptist Church.
Monroe is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Ann Walraven of Dalton, Martha Faye and Vernon Youell of Chatsworth, Margaret and Jackie Silvers of Calhoun; grandchildren, Connie A. Richards, Dewey L. Walraven, Theresa A. Campbell, Lisa C. Autry, James V. Youell, Darryl E. Silvers and Christopher E. Youell; great-grandchildren, Brandy Smith, Paige Tucker, Jeffery Autry, Breann Campbell, Leanne Autry, Cody Richards, Karson Campbell, Haley Richards, Sarah Youell, Natasha Youell, Austin Campbell and Makhail Youell; great-great-grandchildren, Ivy Smith, Cheyenne Smith, Hayden Autry and Sebastian Tucker; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Rich officiating.
Burial will be in Fain Cemetery in Calhoun.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 9 P.M.
