Mrs. Virginia (Cowart) Sellers departed this life on Saturday, September 10, 2011.
Virginia (affectionately known as Bunk), began her life journey 85 years ago. Born August 14, 1926, in Marion County, Alabama, she is the daughter of the late Willie and Icy Mayfield of the Dawnville Community.
Virginia is the wife of the late Andy Cowart to whom she was married for 26 years before his passing on July 8, 1967.
A recent resident of Quinton Memorial Healthcare, Virginia lived in the Dawnville Community for 32 years. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and most recently a member of Liberty Baptist Church. There she attended the Just Older Youth Sunday School Class which she loved and was loved by. Virginia worked in the local thread mill and carpet industry for many years and retired from Newmark Rug in 1992. She also worked part time at Parker’s Restaurant.
Virginia is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Earl and Mary Ann Cowart, Kathy and Raymond Caylor and Annette and Mike Smith all of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Roy Green of Dalton; precious grandchildren and spouses, Monica and Russ Poe, Marshall and Ashley Cowart, Heath and Frances Caylor, Alison and Mitch Adams and Michaela Smith all of Dalton; great-grandchildren, Andrew Poe, Troy Poe, Rebecca Poe, Marleigh Cowart, Reece Cowart, Carolina Cowart, Kylie Caylor, Aiden Caylor, Hayden Adams, Hudson Adams and Harrison Adams all of Dalton; nephew and spouse, Phillip and Teresa Green of Chatsworth; great-niece and spouse, Stephanie and Josh Ray of Marietta; other beloved family and lifelong friends surviving both in Georgia and Alabama.
The family would like to thank those who helped care for Virginia and especially thank all family and friends who sent cards, visited and prayed for her.
Services to honor her life and celebrate her home going are scheduled for Tuesday, September 13 at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Danny Cochran officiating.
Virginia will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at Love Funeral Home Monday from
5 to 9 P.M.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
