John Henry Smith

Mr. John Henry Smith, 85, of Dalton, died Monday, July 2, 2007 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was Born April 17, 1922 in Cherokee County, Alabama. and was a veteran of World War II, having served from October 1942 until January 1946.
John was the son of the late Henry Taylor and Minnie Gould Maples Smith. and was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Ann Smith Nelson; brothers, Joe Smith of Ringgold, Clifford Smith of Dalton; sister, Linnie Ann Hunter of Dalton.
John is survived by his wife, Georgie Ruth Land Smith of Dalton; Sons, John Arvin Smith of Dalton and Clay Earl Smith of Calhoun.
Step-son and his wife, Steven and Amy Bailey of Dalton.
Grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly Smith of Chatsworth, Amy and Leo Day of Kentucky, Leigh Ann and Robbie Sharp of Dalton.
Step-Grandchildren, Savanna Bailey, Allanna Bailey, Logan Bailey, Brianna Evans, Jeremy Evans all of Dalton.
6 Great-Grandchildren; one Step-Great-Grandchild. Also his very special nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 A.M. Friday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Trammell D. Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery on Airport Rd.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M.
Pallbearers will be Leo Day, Mark Cox, Danny Smith, Robbie Sharp, James Ridley and Derrick Ridley.
