Jimmy "J.D." Smith

Mr. Jimmy “J.D.” Smith, 80, of Dalton, passed away Tuesday October 18, 2011 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late, John Findley Smith and Kitty Howell Smith and was preceded in death by her brother, John H. Smith and sister, Marion Eloise Clay.
Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from the United States Air National Guard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Debbie Clifton Smith of Dalton; step-son and his wife, Travis and Louise Lynch of Dalton and step-son, Marty Lynch; granddaughter, Sarah Lynch of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Billy Green of Dalton; sister-in-law, Myra Smith of Dalton; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 A.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Cochran and the Rev. David Hammond officiating.
Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 897 Poplar Springs Rd., Dalton, Ga. 30720.
