Ruth (Woolf) Lamb, 85, died peacefully at her Dalton home on November 19th surrounded by family and friends.
Ruth, daughter of Ervin and Laura May Woolf, was born on November 3, 1926. One of four siblings, she grew up on the family farm in Stewartsville, NJ. She attended New Jersey schools and graduated from Trenton State Teachers College with a degree in elementary education.
Ruth met her husband, Bob, while she was teaching 6th grade and Bob worked as a radio announcer in Allentown, PA. Soon after, Bob started what would be a long career with Armstrong Cork in Lancaster, PA, which became home for Ruth and him for several years. Then it was on to Pensacola, FL, and finally to Dalton in 1976.
While living in Dalton, Ruth was instrumental in establishing an Alzheimer Association Chapter in Dalton and actively promoted this cause both at the state and local levels. She also was active for many years in the RossWoods Adult Day Services, Welcome Wagon and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She and her husband were members of the Dalton First Presbyterian Church.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her oldest brother Carl. She is survived by her sister Marion, her brother Heston, her brother-in-law Chuck and his wife Christine, and many cherished nephews and nieces.
Heartfelt thanks go to Ruth’s faithful caregivers Diane Holcomb, Eddie Mae Moore, LaSonya Bonds, Melanie Shorpshire, Dorenda Moore, Brenda Hayes, Wanda Williams, and Kaye Reed, her dear neighbors Tim and Margaret Smith and Carolyn Carmack, and countless other faithful friends, neighbors and family who have cared for and supported her over the recent difficult years.
Local funeral services will be at 11 A. M. Wednesday from Dalton First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Mickey Shealy officiating.
Services and burial will take place at a late date in New Jersey.
The family will receive friends at Love funeral Home Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M.
