Mr. Edward Junior Pierce, 77, of Rocky Face, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Mae Nicholson Pierce; and two sisters, Yvonne Kelley and Jo Davis.
He attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Rocky Face. He worked in the trucking industry his entire adult life. He retired from the Teamsters Union after 30 years. Edward later went back to work for the Whitfield County Road Department, retiring in May, 2011 at the age of 77. He was lovingly known by his coworkers as “Grandpaw”.
He loved his family and most of all, his grandchildren.
Edward is survived by his wife, Brenda Pierce; sons and daughter-in-laws, Scott and Carol Pierce and Randy and Cheryl Pierce, all of Rocky Face; grandchildren,Garret Pierce, Emma Pierce, Jake and his wife Jennifer Pierce, Austin and his wife Grace Pierce; great grandson, Paxton Pierce; great granddaughter, Curry Pierce; nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be held Sunday at 3 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Harmon and Rev. Larry Wood officiating.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Saturday from 5 to 8 P.M.
Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
