Mrs. Annabel Barber Stacy, 86, of Dalton passed away Friday January 27, 2012 at Morningside of Dalton surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 5, 1925 in Dalton, Annabel was the daughter of the late William Simpson and Annie Murphy Barber and was preceded in death by her husband, John Ralph Stacy; and six brothers and sisters, Delsie Mae Arnold, Louise Dewberry, Harold Barber, Jack Barber, Rev. Bill Barber and Betty Jean Keen.
Annabel worked at the Whitfield County Tax Commissioner’s Office for many years.
She enjoyed traveling to China, Hawaii and cruising to the Caribbean with the Senior Citizen Group. She learned to drive and received her drivers license at age 65. She was a member of First Methodist Church and she was active in the Democratic Party. Early in her marriage she and her husband lived in Washington, D.C. and then she returned to Dalton to raise her family.
She leaves here to cherish her memory one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Steed Hill of Dalton; three sons and daughters-in-law, John Ralph Stacy and Ann Stacy of Keller, TX, Carter and Priscilla Stacy of Cleveland, TN. and Russell and Jackie Stacy of Spring, TX; grandchildren, Holly Asbury and Blake Hill both of Dalton, John Christian Stacy, Matt Stacy and Rachel Wiebe all of Keller, TX, Leanne Stacy of Portland, OR, Lauren Stacy and Leslie Snyder both of Cleveland, TN, Christina Latta of Jacksonville, FL, and Danielle Stacy and Ashley Stacy both of Spring, TX; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Annabel was lovingly called Maw by her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Sunday from 1 to 3 P.M.
