Mr. Marvin Truman Bryson, 76, of Dalton, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
A lifelong resident of Dalton, Marvin attended Fort Hill School and was a 1953 graduate of Dalton High School where he was a member of the Dalton High Catamount Marching Band. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later worked for the United States Postal Service, where he retired in 1992 after 34 years.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Marion Bryson and Hattie Thompson Bryson of Dalton; and brother, Robert Bryson of Tampa, FL.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 54 years, Charline Batchelor Bryson; daughter, Marti Bryson of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Tate and Bethina Bryson of Dalton; grandsons, Evan Bryson and Ethan Bryson of Dalton; beloved pets, Sandy and Jake; sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Frank Fetzer of Dalton; brother and sisters-in-law, William M. and Geneva Bryson of Chatsworth and Rebecca Bryson of Tampa, FL; cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to Dr. Michael Stipanov and all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Chattanooga Oncology and Hematology Associates as well as all of the nurses and staff of 400 East at Memorial Hospital for their love and care of Marvin during the past four and a half years.
Services to celebrate Marvin’s life will be held on Saturday at 2 P.M. in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Dalton with the Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating.
Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. on Friday at Love Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Dalton, 500 S. Thornton Ave., Dalton, Ga. 30720 or to The Humane Society of Northwest Georgia, P.O. Box 3946, Dalton, Ga. 30719-3946.
