Mrs. Evelyn Rainwater Dobbins, 99, of Dalton and formerly of Stone Mountain, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Regency Park Healthcare Center.
She was born January 30, 1913 in Fairburn, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Nolan Dobbins, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edward Rainwater of Fairburn and brothers and sisters Earl Rainwater, Agnes Horton, Oliver Rainwater, Charles Rainwater, Odelle Guensch, and Henderson Rainwater.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Chuck and Donna Dobbins of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Julius Rainwater of Conyers, Mr. and Mrs. Dawson Rainwater of Jonesboro; sister, Mrs. Jean Grant of Carrollton; grandchildren Carla Dobbins Fain and Kelley Fain of Johns Creek, Heather Dobbins Lamb and Richmond Lamb of Atlanta and Emily Anne Dobbins of Dalton. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Davis, Lilly and Grant Fain and Avery Lamb and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dalton and for many years of Smoke Rise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Until her retirement at age 75, she worked in accounting as an office manager. She enjoyed travelling, crafts and serving her church.
Services to celebrate her life will be Tuesday, March 20 at 1:30 PM at First Baptist Church of Dalton. The family will receive friends in the atrium of the church Tuesday from 11 AM until the funeral hour. Dr. J. Truett Gannon, Dr. Bill Ireland and Rev. Phillip Cannon will be officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker.
In lieu of Flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Dalton Building Fund, 311 N. Thornton Ave., Dalton, GA 30720.
