Mr. Marshall Glenn Johnson, 95, of Sugar Valley, GA., passed away Sunday September 16, 2007 at Gordon County Hospital. He was the son of the late, Harry Roy Johnson and Clara Mundy Johnson of Albany, GA. and was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Willa Snipes Johnson; sister Wilmetta Boynton of Florida. Mr. Johnson was a retired wholesale furniture manufacturing representative and a member of the Calhoun First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Albany High School and attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran, GA. In 1928, he pitched a record 36 consecutive scoreless innings for Albany High School and was a star pitcher for Middle Georgia College baseball team in 1932.
Glenn is survived by his sons, Harry E. Johnson of Albany, GA., Rev. Roy G. Johnson and wife, Edith Pat Johnson of Dalton; daughter, Penny W. Johnson of Fort Washington, MD.; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; nephew, Ray Boynton and family of Jacksonville, Fl.; the family of the late Claude Boynton of Plantation, Fl. and Claire Hissom and Wilson White of Loganville, GA., other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Wednesday at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Clark, the Rev. Roy Johnson and the Rev. Tony Howeth officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at Love Funeral Home Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Arthur Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Roy Johnson, Jr., David Johnson, and Great-Grandson, Seth Howeth and his father, Rev. Tony Howeth.
