Melvin Stewart

Mr. Melvin R. Stewart, 79, of Dalton passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Robert and Mary Hutcheson Stewart and was preceded in death by his daughter, April Stewart and brother, Herbert Stewart.
Melvin was a veteran of the United States Army and was an avid dirt track fan attending races at Boyd’s, North Georgia and Cleveland. He also loved attending his grandkids sporting events.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Moore Stewart of Dalton; sister, Pansy Jones of Dalton; brother, John Stewart of Marietta, GA; children, Allen Stewart of Clearwater, FL, Michael Stewart of Griffin, GA, Connie and Bobby Smith of Dalton, Ronald and Kellie Stewart of Rocky Face; special daughter-in-law, Diana Stewart of Dalton; grandchildren, Danny and Tracey King, Jessica Stewart, Dewayne King, Josh Stewart, Jason and Maria Stewart, Petey Stewart, David and Bridgett King, Jacob Stewart and Britney Stewart; great-grandchildren, Jared King, LaRocque King and Peyton King; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Brother Marty Cooper officiating.
Burial will be in United Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M.
