Mr. Alfred Helms, 79, of Dalton passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at his residence.
He was the son of the late, Crawford Helms and Trudy Dickson Helms and was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sara McMullen Helms, son Michael Helms and brother Talmadge Helms, sisters, Lillian Thornton, Norma Deal and Annie Merle Parker.
Alfred was a member of Dug Gap Baptist Church and worked for Southern Wholesalers for 30 years.
Alfred is survived by his Daughter and Son in law, Melba Helms Chance and Raymon of Dalton, sister-and-brother-in-law, Nell and Carlos Aguilar of Jakin, GA; grandchildren, Shane and Shelley Curtis of Tunnel Hill and Amanda and Andy Hartley of Dalton; great grandchildren Blakely Curtis, Madilyn Curtis, Brandon Hartley, Jared Hartley, Sophey Curtis and Asa Curtis; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Roy and Sue McMullen, Virginia and Charles Frith, Hilda and Wayne Phillips, Jimmy and JoAnn McMullen, Tommy and Beverly McMullen, Linda and Reed Gee, Diane and Bob Tester; Johnny and Sherry McMullen, nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Betty Quarles, Kim Moore and to Heartlite Hospice for their loving care..
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Walker and the Rev. Shane Curtis officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 to 9 P.M.
