Charles Byers

Mr. Charles R. Byers, 81, of Dalton, passed away, Thursday October 18, 2007 at his residence.
He was the son of the late, Lewis and Bessie Wesson Byers and was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer Byers, Gordon Byers and Joe Byers; sisters, Vivian Byers Ridley, Lorrene Lorens and Parilee Adkins.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Ridley Byers of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Teresa Byers of Dalton; daughters and son-in-law, Charlene and David Smith of Dalton, and Peggy Barnett of Murray County; brother, Emmett Byers of Piedmont, Al; sisters, Ruby Lorens of Piedmont, Al. and Willie Gilley of Borden Springs, Al.; grandchildren, Shon Godfrey, Shelby and Ralph Smith, Erica Smith; great-grandchildren, Aaron Godfrey, Kaelyn Godfrey, Kelsey Smith, Brody Smith and Haley Burns; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Ridley, the Rev. Larry Morgan and the Rev. J. E. Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Treadwell Cemetery in Murray County with Jeff Ridley, Tony Byers, Dennis Ridley, Darien Meddars, Neil Ridley and Robert Ridley serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Saturday from 5 to 9 P.M.
