Mr. Glenn Allen Phillips, 77, of Dalton, passed away Thursday August 9, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the son of the late, Glenn and Noma Heath Phillips and was preceded in death by his brother Paul Wayne Phillips.
Glenn graduated in 1951 from Murphy High School in Mobile, Al and the University of Alabama in 1959 with a B.S. degree in accounting. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan, especially University of Alabama “Roll Tide” fan.
Glenn was former deacon and elder of the Conway Presbyterian Church on Orlando, FL and was an active member of the Dalton First Baptist Church. He was the C.F.O. for 20 years with Poly Pac of Dalton.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Alice Robeson of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Paul Allen and Claudia Phillips of Trenton, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia Ann and Curtis Freeman of Canton, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Kirk Whatley of Pike Road, AL; brother and sister-in-law, Sidney and Marylyn Phillips of Daphne, Al; grandchildren, Seth Allen Freeman, Summer Grace Freeman, Hannah Michele Phillips and Paul Allen Phillips, II; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Heartlite Hospice for their loving care.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday at the Dalton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Flanagan and the Rev. Dr. Bill Ireland officiating.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. and one hour pryor to services in the Church Parlor.
Graveside services and burial will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, Al. The family will receive friends at Pine Crest Funeral Home one hour pryor to services at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 827, Dalton, GA 30722 or to American Cancer Society, 200 W. Emery St. Suite 3, Dalton, GA 30720 or the University of Alabama Alumni Scholarship Fund, Tuscaloosa, Al 35487.
