Mrs. Doris Virginia Massingill Jones, 90, of Dalton, better known as “Dit-Dat” went to her heavenly home Sunday morning, September 9, 2012 at Hamilton Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late Jim and Ruth Massingill and was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Jones; brother, Fred Massingill and sister, Sybil Newberry.
She was a resident of Regency Park since 2010 and was also a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Doris is survived by her children, Pat Bilbro of Dalton, Jerry and Diane Jones of Ringgold and Debbie and Jerry White of Rocky Face; she will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren and their spouses, Dickie and Sheila Bilbro of Atlanta, Brad and Rhonda Bilbro of Rocky Face, J.R. and Erin Jones of Ringgold, Anna White of Rocky Face, Missi and Zane Roper of Tunnel Hill and Steve and Ashley Jones of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Cassie and Garett Hammontree of Chattanooga, Chase and Cole Bilbro of Atlanta, Makenna and Max Jones of Ringgold, Will and Brantley Roper of Tunnel Hill and Hannah Adair of Moultrie, GA; great-great-grandchild, Graham Hammontree; special extended family member, Bryce Stanley of Dalton; sisters and brother-in-law, Charles and Peggy Baker of Tunnel Hill, Judy Carter of Dalton and Sandra Arnold of Rocky Face; sister-in-law, Minnie Massingill; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Services to celebrate her homecoming celebration will be Tuesday at 4 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Oogie Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Monday from 5 to 7 P.M.
