Mrs. Mary Ann Bagby Mitchell, 76, and lifelong resident of Dalton, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2007.
She was the daughter of the late, Robert W. “Bob” Bagby and Catherine Cornbee Bagby and was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jennings Mitchell, Sr.; brother, Robert W. “Bobby” Bagby, and sister Emily Catherine Bagby.
Ann was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was active in church affairs. She had a special interest in the welfare of individuals with disabilities, and she and Paul were foster parents for many years. She and Clifton are well-known to local bingo players. In later years, her greatest pleasure came from spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Paul J. Mitchell, Jr. and Patti of Birmingham, AL., Chareissa Brown of Troy, MO., Mark N. Mitchell and Julia of Dalton, Lorena “Loree” Bandy and Michael of Tunnel Hill, and Clifton Mitchell of Dalton; grandchildren, John-Paul Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Megan Brown, Savanna Bandy, and Maggie Bandy; brothers, John Fred Bagby of Dalton, David Bagby and Irma of Tullahoma, TN., and Paul Bagby and Joan of Dalton; a large number of nieces and nephews; and long-time family friend, Vivian Sparks.
Following a private burial service, a celebration of Mrs. Mitchell’s life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church Friday at 11 A.M. with Rev. Rhoda Howell and Rev. Hoyt Jenkins officiating.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 Veterans Dr., Dalton, Ga. 30721. or to one’s favorite charity.
