Mr. James Thomas “Jimmy” Fulghum passed away in peace on Wednesday October 24, 2012 at the age of 59. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Fulghum Whitfield.
Jim is survived by his only child, Brooke (Fulghum) Stevenson, son-in-law, Andrew Stevenson, and granddaughters Emma and Lila Stevenson of Asheville, NC; brother, Keith Fulghum of Purcellville, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Baird and Alice Fulghum of Jacksonville, FL; nieces, Leah Hobgood, Anna Fulghum, Tessa Gottlieb; family member Pascal Martin; lifelong friends, Maynard Higgins, Amanda Looper, Cindy Wade, Pat O’ Bryant; his loving family in Augusta, GA; his brothers and sisters at Northstar Educational and Therapeutic Services and Mountain Top Boys Home, as well as his loyal best furry buddy, Bucky.
Born in Augusta Georgia, Jim moved to Dalton as a young boy. A graduate of the Dalton High School class of 1971, Jim loved these Appalachian foothills. He was passionate about music, deep conversations, being silly with his grandbabies, long walks with Buck and making a difference in this world. Jim devoted the majority of his professional life to serving children and young people at Northstar Educational and Therapeutic Services, (formerly Mountain Brook School.) In his honor, the Jim Fulghum award will be established by Northstar Educational and Therapeutic Services and awarded to a deserving student each year.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday November 3, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Long officiating.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:30 till 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to Northstar Educational and Therapeutic Services General Account, 307 S. Fredrick St., Dalton, Ga. 30721.
