Mrs. Margaret Parker Bradshaw, 84, of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012 at her home at Royal Oaks. After 40 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John G. Bradshaw, in 1992. Mrs. Bradshaw graduated from Chicago Teachers College with a Bachelors of Education Degree and taught for several years prior to her marriage. She was a dedicated wife and mother. She worked as a social worker for the Child Development Center in Dalton, GA for many years. She loved to travel and made numerous trips around the world including many countries in Europe, to South America, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Southeast Asia, Russia, and China. Mrs. Bradshaw was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Dalton. She was President of St. Joseph’s Altar Society, Women’s Club, and a member of the Parish Council. She was a Eucharistic Minister, delivering communion and prayer to shut-ins. She was involved with numerous charitable organizations including being a member of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity, the Cheerhaven School, and the Medical Access Clinic of Dalton. She was a strong independent woman. Her goal in life was to help those less fortunate, in doing so she touched the lives of many.
She is survived by her sons and daughters and their spouses, John and Sally Bradshaw of Savannah, GA; Mary Rosevear of Calhoun, GA; Kevin and Cindy Bradshaw of Calhoun, GA; Maggie and Brad Kitterman of St. Louis, MO; and Kate and Gibson Vance of Montgomery, AL, 14 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 10-10:50am at
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 901 W. Emory St. Dalton, GA 30720 followed by a service to celebrate her life at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Dalton, Habitat for Humanity of Dalton, or Shop With The Phoenix Program providing Christmas Gifts to needy school children, in care of Sonoraville High School, 7340 Fairmount Hwy.
