Swinton Walker

Mr. Swinton B. Walker, 88, of Dalton, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his residence. He was a WW II Army Veteran, a graduate of Mercer University and has been a member of Dalton First Baptist Church since 1966.
Swinton was a student of insurance for 42 years; worked for 2 major insurance companies in Atlanta for 14 years before coming to Dalton in 1966 to manage a local Agency. In 1970 he opened Walker and Associates Insurance Agency and was active in local and state activities before his retirement in 1989.
Swinton was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Walker in 2008 and his brothers, Elton Walker and Brunson Walker.
He is survived by his son, Steve Walker of Hudson, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Larry England of Atlanta; grandchildren, Stephen Walker and Lauren Walker; brother and sister-in-law, Claxton and Marshie Walker of Macon, GA; neices and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Dalton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Billy Nimmons, the Rev. Phillip Cannon and the Rev. Larry Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m..
