Luanne Nelson Smith, 77, of Dalton passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at her home here on earth and is now safely home in heaven with her Lord.
She was born in Gordon County on February 3, 1936, the daughter of the late A. B. and Dorothy Nelson and was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Nelson; her former husband, Robert “Bob” Smith and her beloved son, Robert Keith Smith.
Luanne was a loving mother, sister, friend and a faithful member of East Side Baptist Church. She worked for Beaulieu of America until 2006 when she retired after 35 years of service.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Tammy Smith of Tunnel Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Bea and Bill Hart of Maryville, TN; daughter-in-law, Kaye Cope Smith of Dalton; sister-in-law, Betty Nelson of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Josh Smith, Juli Smith Herr and husband Matt and Lyle Smith; several nieces and nephews; her special cats and grand dog, Angus.
Thanks to Hamilton Hospice during these past weeks and especially to CNA Dianne Tucker for her special care and also to Ann Hall for her assistance.
Service to celebrate Luanne’s life and to glorify God will be held Thursday at 1 P.M. at East Side Baptist Church with the Rev. Aaron Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Wednesday after 5 P.M.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Luanne’s memory to East Side Baptist Church, P.O. Box 734, Dalton, Ga. 30722-0734.
