Evelyn Manis

Mrs. Evelyn Elaine Manis, 88, of the Carbondale community passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013.
She was the daughter of the late Josephus and Pauline Powell Bowman and was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Manis and brother, J. H. Bowman.
Elaine was a member of Swamp Creek Baptist Church. She worked with the Federal Land Bank Association for over 40 years and was a proud and active Democrat and served on various boards and charities.
She is survived by her niece, Wanda Houston of Dalton; nephew, Joel Bowman of Dalton; great nephew and nieces, Dale Houston of Nashville, TN, Celece Rowe of Chatsworth, Tonya Imler of Duncansville, PA. and Misty Delay of Dalton; great-great-nieces and nephews also survive; special cousins, Rita Moore Dickerson of Little Rock, AR. and Bobby Nance of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 P.M. at Swamp Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Grovenstein and the Rev. Charles Grovenstein officiating.
Private burial will follow in the Bowman Family Cemetery adjacent to Cove Baptist Church in Carbondale.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M.
