Mr. Carlton Bentin Wininger, 68, of Tunnel Hill, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late, Oscar Wininger and Maurine Oliver and was preceded in death by his daughter, Deana Wininger; son, Samuel Wininger; sister, Willa Rogers Slaughter; step-father, James Owen. Carlton was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church for over forty years and was very active in the church, where he was a Sunday School Teacher, R. A. Counselor and a singer in the choir. He also loved bible study and old hymnal songs. Carlton was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Edna Gentry Wininger of Tunnel Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Neil Canada of Tunnel Hill; son, Benny Wininger of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, William Ray and Etta Wininger of Varnell; grandchildren, Jeremy Wininger, Amanda Canada and Kristen Canada; his loving pet, Huey. Aunts, nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 1 P.M. from Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Bret Yaeger and the Rev. Danny Goss officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 9 P.M.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the church that he loved, Temple Baptist Church, 2310 S. Dixie Hwy., Dalton, Ga. 30721.
