Mr. John H. Gregory, 78, of Tunnel Hill, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach Florida.
John was born in Dalton on March 3, 1930 to the late, Dr. A. K. Gregory, Sr and Eva Furr Gregory and was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Gregory; brothers, Keith Gregory, Jr., Dr. Hugh H. Gregory, Dr. Julian Gregory; nephew, Dr. Bill Gregory.
John was a veteran of the United Sates Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict and was assigned to a B-29 bomber as a gunner. He attended Young Harris College and Emory at Oxford College. He and his brother, Keith were owners of Gregory Printing and Office Supply for 40 years. He was a volunteer at Hamilton Medical Center. John loved to travel and had traveled to every state except Alaska and many trips abroad.
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Betty Segars Rogers Gregory of Tunnel Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Benny Smith of Buford, Ga., step-daughters and step-sons-in-law, Susan and Derrell Grantham, Cindy and Juan Montez, Gina Rogers all of Tunnel Hill, Amie and Kelly Putnam of Rocky Face; step-son, Gary Rogers of Tunnel Hill; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Angel Gregory of Dalton; grandchildren, Jessica and Tripp Bell, Eric and Jennifer Rogers, Heidi and Justin Ledford, Joanna and Kelly Scruggs, Kenley Clark, Bo and Erikka Whitfield, Josiah Whitfield, Cain Rogers, Rhett Rogers, Iris Anne Putnam and Asa Putnam; great-grandchildren, River, Lily, Eden, Emma Grace, Eliza, Hank, Ryan and Coy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Eva Segars of Texas, Charles and Krista Segars of Germany, Charlotte Segars of Rome, Ga., Kathy and Jimmy Teasley of Dalton, Dot Segars and Mary Sue Michaels both of Rocky Face; special friends, Gene and Erma Mealor, Lamar and Mary Martha Wilson, Frances Whitener all of Dalton, Frank and Annette Moody of Tunnel Hill; his special calico cat, Molly; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 from the Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Hutto and the Rev. Dennis Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Tuesday from 4 to 9 P.M.
