Viola "Vickie" Putnam Mathis

Ms. Viola (Vickie) Putnam Mathis, 72, of Dalton, went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2013, after a heroic battle with cancer.
She was formerly a nurse at Chatsworth Healthcare for 25 years, where she gave unselfishly to help others in need.
Vickie is preceded in death by her parents, J. L. and Gladys Moore Putnam; sister Janet Putnam Carter and a brother Lamar Putnam.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Elicia Whaley of Trion, Wade and Darla Mathis of Rocky Face, Vanessa Huggins of Dawnville and Tammy and Jody Brock of Armuchee; sisters and brother-in-law, Myra and James Moody of Darien, GA, Judy Gilley of Dalton and Hilda and David Williams of Jonesboro, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Diane Putnam of Dalton; grandchildren, Destiny Fitzpatrick, Ashley Johnson, Eric Mathis, Erica Keith, Ian Swafford, Chloe Brock, Kierstan Couch, Logan Huggins and Taylor Brock; 8 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday from Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Bramblett officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m.
