Violet Talley Penland

Mrs. Violet Talley Penland, 81, of Abingdon, VA. and formerly of Dalton, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
She was the daughter of the late Buford Henry and Bessie Gertrude Blankenship Talley and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Penland, in 1999
They were married on March 28, 1948; she was also preceded in death by her sister, Reba Ann Talley.
Violet went peacefully to sleep Wednesday morning, April 2, at 5:40 am and awakened in heaven. She lived in Whitfield County for the first eighty years of her life. She moved to Abingdon, VA. in September 2006, to be near her daughter and her family.
She was a graduate of Valley Point High School and enjoyed her lifetime friendship with some of her classmates. She worked at a dime store, Belk Gallant, First National Bank, and C & C Electric Co. She enjoyed her daily contact with people at her jobs. She was an active member of Dug Gap Baptist church until her health prevented her involvement.
She loved her family, and especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Violet is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Trudy and Paul J. Bufford of Abingdon; grandchildren, Joshua Bufford of Washington, DC, Elizabeth “Betsy” Bufford of Abingdon, Julie Bufford Stiltner and her husband, Benny of Youngsville, N.C.;
great -grandchild, Josiah Stiltner of Youngsville; sisters amd brother-in-law, Lovella Talley McClure and J. W. of Dalton and Ruth Talley Quinn of Dalton. Niece, Lynn McClure.
Services will be Saturday at 2 P. M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Bagley officiating.
Burial will be in the West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until 2 P. M.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the North Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief, P.O. Box 4389, Dalton, GA. 30719.
