James "Jim" Cook, Sr

Mr. James “Jim” C. Cook, Sr, 91, of Dalton passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013.
He was born November 15, 1921 in Decatur, Georgia a son of the late David Otis and Augusta Mae Pounds Cook. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Hurt Cook; brothers, Pounds, Carey, Russell and David; sister, Bette Redd; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug and Jane Hurt; sister-in-law, Bunny Hurt.
He was a member of the Dalton First United Methodist Church.
Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James “Jim” C. Jr. and Cheryl Cook; grandson, David Carey Cook and April; sister and brother-in-law, Augusta and Bob Markley of Staunton, VA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Betty Lou Hurt of Pittsburgh, PA; special friend and caregiver, Brenda Shepherd; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday followed by a graveside service at West Hill Cemetery at noon.
