Mrs. Sybil Reed Tate, 98, of Rocky Face, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013.
She was born December 10, 1914 in Whitfield County, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Annie Capehart Reed and was preceded in death by her husband, Tom A. Tate; her son, Winfred Milton Tate and her sister, Fae Reed Brackett.
Mrs. Tate retired in 1974 after a 37 year teaching career with the Whitfield County School System. She was the Language Arts Coordinator for Whitfield County during her last nine years of service.
Mrs. Tate was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of the Whitfield County Education Association, a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Robert Ham of Rocky Face; brother, Harold B. Reed of St. Johns, MI; grandchildren, Sandra and Eric Burkhardt of Ridgecrest, CA, Lisa and Clay McDaris of Rocky Face, Robin and Steve Mullinax of Carrolton, GA, Terry and Barbara Tate of Dalton; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Goss officiating.
Burial will follow in Dunagan Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 7 P.M.
