Mrs. Janie Cannon Cheney, 87, of Dalton passed away Sunday November 13, 2005 at Regency Park Healthcare Center.
Janie was a member of Dalton First United Church for over 60 years. She and her husband, “Dit” came to north Georgia as newlyweds 67 years ago.
Janie was preceded in death by her husband Hugh C. “Dit” Cheney in 1988.
Son, David Cheney. Parents E.C. and Nellie Cannon of Columbus. Brothers, Robert Cannon and Clarence Cannon of Columbus and Thomas Cannon of Albany, Ga. Sisters, Sarah Trentham of Columbus and Nell Huddle of Atlanta.
Janie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Gene Tibbs of Dalton.
Son and daughter-in-law, Charles Cheney & Nancy Dallas of Hartselle, Al.
Sister and brother-in-law, Ann & J. G. DeLoach of Columbus, Ga.
Grandchildren, Kyle Tibbs Jones of St. Simons Island, Ga., Stephanie & Joel Galanter of Nashville, Tn., Jim & Julie Tibbs of Marietta, Ga. and Melissa Cheney of San Antonia, Tx.
Great Grandchildren, Will Jones and Henry Jones of St. Simons Island, Sam Galanter and Ben Galanter of Nashville, James Tibbs and Mary Grace Tibbs of Marietta.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Dr. Joe Peabody officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Tuesday from 12 noon until 1 P.M.
The family ask that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 627, Dalton, Ga. 30722.
