Rev. William Loyd “Cotton” Sims, 81, of Dalton, passed away Wednesday October 30, 2013 at his residence.
He was a graduate of Truett-McConnell Christian College in Cleveland, GA, Mercer University in Macon, GA, and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO.
Cotton pastored churches in Georgia, Alabama, and Missouri and was the Director of Missions in Franklin County, Missouri. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Grove Level Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Pauline Satterfield Sims of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Julian and Amy Sims of Covington, GA; grandchildren, Emily Sims and Liam Sims; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will at 1 p.m. Friday at Grove Level Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie Bridges officiating. The Cliff Wright Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with American Legion Post #112 in charge of graveside rites.
The family will receive friends Thursday at Love Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m.
