Mr Malvin James Lambert, 80, of Dalton, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born January 3, 1933 in Wayne County, WV to the late Cecil Herbert Lambert, Sr. and Sabra Murphy Lambert and was preceded in death by an infant son; brothers, Cecil Herbert Lambert, Jr., Lawrence Fredrick Lambert, Charles Edward Lambert and William Willard Lambert; one sister, Clara Elizabeth Masters.
Malvin served in the Unites States Navy from 1951 to 1954, during the Korean War and four years in the reserves. He owned and operated Sabra’s Inn of Ceredo, WV from 1961 to 1964. He moved to Florida in 1964 working as a carpet installer and done handy-man jobs on the side. In October 1986. he moved to Dalton continuing working until his health forced him to retire.
Malvin was a faithful ordained Deacon of the Church of God of the Union Assembly for 28 years and worked on many projects for the Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Daisy Kathleen Frazier Lambert of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, James Cecil and Siriwan Lambert of Dalton, James D. (J.D.) and Kathleen Davis of Fort Smith, AR., Tony Wade and Barbara Davis of Bradenton, FL; daughters and sons-in-law, Stella Sabra and Herman Pratt, Jr,; Verla Elizabeth and Steve Overby all of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald Clarence and Barbara Lambert of Willow Wood, OH, Malvin Herbert and JoAnn Lambert of Clearwater, FL, and Roger and Betty Lambert of Brooksville, FL; three granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, two step-grandsons, one step-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews and many special friends and church family whom he loved.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Church of God of the Union Assembly with the Rev. Trey Starnes and Scott Faulknor officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with Rocky Faulknor, Demerias Hall, Herbert Faulknor, Bud Scalf, Reggie Gazaway and Delmar Duckworth serving as pallbearers and Ray Hall and Doyle Faulknor serving as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m.
The body will lie-in-state at the Church on Wednesday from noon until the services at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church of God of the Union Assembly Christmas Basket Fund, P.O. Box 1323, Dalton, Ga 30722.
