Mr. Reginald Burnett passed away November 11, 2013 at Hamilton Medical Center. Born February 6, 1934 in Birstall, Yorkshire, England, he was the son of the late Mabel Teanby Burnett and John Allen Burnett.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Newton Burnett (nee McDonald), sister Kathleen Millman, first wife Patricia G. Burnett (nee Elmes), children Kathleen and Tinker Tancrede, Mark Burnett and Nancy Burnett; step-children, Debra and Bob Prevesk, Denise Newton, Danny Newton, Deanne and Jerry Johnson all of Dalton; grandchildren Stephen Tancrede (fiancée Jessica Neumann), Levi Carroll, Andree McCuiston (husband Jon), Tosha Martinez (husband Juan), Mark Shaheen (wife Shealy), Maria Shaheen, Brent Jewell (wife Jill), Mathew Jewell, Stephanie Brock, Stephen Jewell, Chance Arnold, Caleb Arnold, Kaycee Buzzo (husband Fabrizzio) and Kellie Davies (husband Josh); 17 great-grandchildren, English Family niece Anne Margetts (husband Richard), nephew David Millman (wife Gill), their children and his RBI family and friends. In 1951, Reg Burnett was the youngest pilot to serve as an officer in the Royal Air Force. Mr. Burnett came to the USA in 1957 and was proud to become a citizen in 1979. He established RBI International Carpet Consultants in 1967 and was managing President until his retirement in 2002. He is known worldwide in the carpet industry. Reg has been an active participant in the community as a member of Dalton Rotary Club, Whitfield Healthcare Foundation, and Dalton Whitfield Library Board; he was on the board of directors of two local banks, an original member of the Dalton Businessmen’s Dinner Club and active in the Ellijay and Dalton Woodworker clubs. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and President of the Friendship Sunday School Class.
Visitaion will be in the Dalton First United Methodist Church atrium on Thursday, November 14th, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Dr. Robin Lindsey and Reverend Kenny Ott officiating. Inurnment will be in the Church Columbarium.
