Mr. Harry Monroe Howard, age 89 of Dalton, Ga departed this world peacefully to join his savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday November 10 at Ridgewood Manor.
Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marjorie McClure Howard; his parents, Tinzie & Farley Howard; brother, F. H Howard and brothers-in-law, Frank and John McClure.
Harry is survived by his daughter, Lynne Puryear and husband Carl of Dalton, his granddaughters, Tracey McClurd of Pensacola, FL, Stephanie Bragg and husband Rob of Atlanta, Ga, and Nikki Sain and husband Richard of Knoxville, Tn; great-granddaughters, Carson and Ryle Sain of Knoxville, Tn; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane & W. B Chitwood of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Elaine McClure of Dalton and Barbara McClure of Brandon, Ms; nieces and nephews, and special family friend, Lillie Bond.
Harry served in the United States Navy and was a WWII veteran, a member of the VFW and retired employee of Hamilton Memorial Hospital. To any who knew Harry they were always shown kindness and honesty. He was a dedicated Georgia fan and passionate hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and friends. Our special thanks and gratitude to the caregivers at Ridgewood Manor for their kindness and nurturing shown to Harry. He will be missed but never forgotten.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 11:00am until 1:00pm. A service will be held at 1:00pm with Dr. Chad Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers for those who wish, a memorial contribution may be made to Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
