Virginia Johnson

Ms. Virginia Ilene Johnson, 77, of Dalton, GA and formerly of Houston, TX, passed away December 27, 2013 at Regency Park.
She was the daughter of the late, Pickett and Rachel Merchant Johnson and was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Loyd Tripp.
Ilene was a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and received her masters from the Sam Houston State University. She taught school for 38 years in the Aldine Independent School District. She was member of the Delta Kappa Gama International.
While living in Texas, she was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years and after moving to Dalton, she was a member of the Dalton First Baptist Church.
Ilene is survived by her sister, Lynette Tripp of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Altice Johnson of Ellijay,GA; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and cousins also survive.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dalton First Baptist with Dr. William J. Ireland, Jr. and the Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating.
Burial will be in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, TX.
The family will receive friends Sunday in the Atrium at the church from 1 to 2 p.m.
