Elizabeth Carlson

Mrs.Elizabeth Allen Carlson, 94, of Dalton passed away Monday, January 27, 2014. Elizabeth (Betty) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on Sept. 26, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Myrtle Allen and was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Carlson, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Rick) Martin of Dalton and son, William (Pamela) Carlson of Charlotte, NC. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer (Wes) Phinney, Heather Holloway of Dalton, Wendy dePinto of Palm Beach, Fl and Chris Carlson of Michigan. Her great-grandchildren include Emma, Kate and Meg Phinney, Sydney Holloway of Dalton, Caleb Carlson and Jordan dePinto of Florida. She also is survived by special friend, Flora Rogers Ellizabeth was the 6th woman inducted into the United States Marine Corps and the 3rd woman to be commissioned during WWII and proudly served until 1945. Services will be Thursday at 3:00 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with the Rev. C. Dean Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:30 until 3:00 in the parish hall of St. Mark's. Interment, with full military honors, will be at West Hill Cemetery following the service.
