Dillie Bridges

Mrs. Dillie Irene Boggs Bridges, 101 passed away Saturday evening February 1, 2014 at Regency Park Healthcare Center. Mrs. Bridges was born November 16, 1912, in Lawley, Alabama, to the late William David and Lena Shaw Boggs. After finishing all the education available in her rural hometown, she moved to Sylacauga, Alabama, where she met and married Alvin Carnie Bridges. They were married 66 years until his death in 2001. Also preceding her in death are her son Richard Douglas Bridges; sisters, Ila Gentry (Earl), Clara Hicks, Josephine Gentry (Alvin), Adelle Boggs (Hamner), and Cora Gentry (Lloyd Filmore); brothers, Frisco Boggs (Faye), Harold Boggs, Truman Boggs, Horace Clifton Boggs (Ida), and Howard Boggs. Mrs. Bridges is survived by her daughter, Glenda Rizer (Brooks) of Dalton and son, Kenneth Cary Bridges (Mary) of Lagrange. Her grandchildren are Christopher Bridges, Benjamin Ephram Bridges, Robert Patterson Simmons (Paige), Cynthia Joy Wilson (Pete), and Anna Elizabeth Verhoeff (Dirk). Mrs. Bridges’ great grandchildren are Carla Bridges, Jessica Bridges, Kayla Estelle Bridges, Christopher Charles Wilson (Caroline), Mary May Wilson, Robert Samuel Wilson, Anna Grace Wilson, Kathryn Elizabeth Simmons, Robert Witherspoon Simmons, Georgia Blue Simmons, Joy Louise Verhoeff, and Dirk Speer Verhoeff. Her great-great grandson is Christopher Jack Wilson. The family thanks Regency Healthcare Center staff for kind and caring service. Services for Mrs. Bridges will be Thursday at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Dr. Mickey Shealy officiating. Burial will follow in Dawnville United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 1-2 P.M.
