Donna Rogers

Miss Donna Joy Rogers, 63, of Dalton passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her father, James Lanier Rogers Sr. Donna was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Valdosta Georgia, but attended the First Baptist Church in Dalton. She was a retired teacher that taught for 36 years in Whitfield County, 2 years at Lowndes High School and 2 years at Valdosta High School . She was also an Assistant Principal at New Hope Elementary, Valley Point Middle School, West Side Middle School and Cedar Ridge Elementary. She loved to travel and had been to several places around the world. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Rogers of Alapaha, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Sylvia Hoffman of Alapaha, GA. and James and Debbie Rogers of Lake Park, GA; nieces and nephews, Missy Hoffman, Tracy and Roger Whitehouse, Paige and Al Cooper, Sarena Stone, Danny Tomlinson, Charlene and Doug Stitz and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Smith; roommate, Pam Hogan of Dalton; several great-nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services will be Thursday at 4:30 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Mr. Randall Trammell officiating. The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:30 to 4:30 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to NIMBY, P.O. Box 942, Dalton, Ga. 30722.
