Mrs. Emily O’Shea Evans, 97, of Dalton, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget O’Rourke O’Shea and was preceded in death by her husband, Raygan Evans; sister, Bridie Hobbart and brother, John O’Shea. Emily was a founding member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She retired from the Dalton City School System, having served as the cafeteria manager at both Morris Street and Roan Street schools. Upon retirement she moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida before returning to Royal Oaks/The Gardens in Dalton in 1998. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Marcia Evans of Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen and Ralph Hughes of Rocky Face and Breda and Mike Roberts of Atlanta; grandchildren, Phillip ( Elizabeth) Hughes, Teresa (Joe) Gleaton, Kathy (Frank) Winter, Shea Roberts (Brian Daughdrill), April (Randy) Harkins, Courtney (Jason) Brock and Raygan Evans; great-grandchildren, Emily, Maecie Kate, Rett and Karah Winter, Harrison, Reilly and Rachel Gleaton, Mia and Brendan Hughes, Brigid Arndt, Norah Harkins and Caitlin Brock; nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to Olivia Wright and Lisa Stokes for their care and compassion for Emily. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a. m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Paul Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and in the church atrium one hour prior to service on Monday.
