Mrs. Dorothy Frances Cox McClain, 87, of Dalton, passed away Wednesday April 2, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born on December 10, 1926 in Dalton, at the house that is currently the Greenhouse. She was born again and baptized in August 1942.
Mrs. McClain was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Ray McClain; parents, Marvin and Josephine Cox; her son, Leslie Ray McClain; grandson, Timothy Oliver; sisters, Catheryn Hall and Margaret Boyd; son-in-law, Warren Oliver.
Mrs. McClain was a life long member of Eastside Baptist Church, helping develop their first nursery department. She remained active as a Sunday School teacher and member of WMU. She faithfully supported the church mission programs. She lived her beliefs as a fine example to others.
Frances is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary McClain Oliver of Galway, NY, Charles and Jennifer McClain of Dalton and Jeffery and Debra McClain of Tunnel Hill; grandchildren, David and Billie Jo Oliver, Jill and Miles Edwards, Lewis McClain, Jessica and Matt Livingston and Taylor McClain; great-grandchildren, Ashley Blowers, Timothy Oliver, Trishelle Oliver, Deakon and Creed Edwards and Marvin Livingston; sisters, Betty McBrayer and Martha Brown both of Dalton; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Amedysis Hospice for their love and care.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday from Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Aaron Jones and the Rev. Bob Bagley officiating.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband of 67 years at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Eastside Baptist Church, c/o children and youth programs, P.O. Box 734, Dalton Ga. 30722-0734.
